A named phase is a gate on a continuous cycle

The model treats phase milestones as positions within a mean synodic cycle, not as calendar labels. A milestone that has already passed is projected into the next cycle.

Illumination is derived from phase angle to provide context, but atmospheric visibility and actual geometric ephemeris values require location, orbital data, and observation conditions.

Why can the next milestone be in the next cycle?

If the current modeled age has passed a target age, modulo arithmetic selects its next occurrence.

Is 75% illumination the same as a named phase?

No. It is a configurable brightness threshold between quarter and full or between full and quarter.

Does lunar age guarantee crescent visibility?

No. Visibility also depends on elongation, altitude, atmosphere, latitude, season, and horizon.

Why include a planning deadline?

It converts a phase gate into an actionable preparation date without pretending it is an astronomical event.
