How to use

Translate the requirement into dated work capacity

  1. Enter the actual planning start date.
  2. Use a sustainable overtime cap.
  3. Match the real workweek.
  4. Exclude known unavailable days.

Calculation logic

Capacity and calendar availability are separate constraints

Required workdays come from hours divided by daily capacity. Calendar span then accounts for nonworking days.

The schedule never assumes every calendar day is available.

Calculation method

Normalize overnight clock time, remove breaks, then allocate weekly threshold hours

An end time earlier than start is treated as next-day. Weekly prior hours determine where regular time ends.

Decision checks

Confirm policy and fatigue limits

  • Local overtime law and approval.
  • Rest periods and consecutive-day limits.
  • Holiday and leave calendars.
  • Payroll rounding and cutoff dates.

Schedule anatomy

What sets the completion date

Hours, daily capacity, workweek, and exclusions each affect timing.

Paid shift duration

Clock time less unpaid break.

Overtime hours

Entered-shift time above weekly threshold.

Gross pay

Regular and premium pay combined.

Decision takeaway: Use the schedule as a capacity plan, then confirm approval and rest requirements.

Practical applications

Decisions this calculator is designed to support

Month-end backlog

A team allocates overtime across normal business days.

What the result clarifies: The calendar exposes whether the deadline is realistic.

Holiday week

One unavailable workday falls inside the plan.

What the result clarifies: The exclusion shifts the completion date instead of increasing daily load.

This planning tool does not determine legal overtime, payroll entitlement, union rules, fatigue safety, or employer approval.

Timesheet Duration Calculator FAQ

Are weekends counted?

Only when the entered workdays per week includes them.

How are holidays handled?

The entered count removes the earliest scheduled workdays as a planning approximation.

Can the last day be partial?

Yes. The final day's planned hours are capped at the remaining requirement.
