CALCULATION METHOD

Hours first, sessions second

H = a × hD = H / wK = d × xM = K − DS_w = ceil(H / x / w)

Default substitution is H=8×1.5=12 hours; D=12/4=3 hours/week; K=5×1.5=7.5 hours/week; M=4.5 hours/week; S_w=ceil(12/1.5/4)=2 sessions/week.

Ceiling the number of sessions makes a plan schedulable but can create a small buffer requirement.

DETAILED CALCULATION PROCESS

Ten auditable steps

  1. Formula: H=a×h, D=H/w, K=d×x, M=K−D.
  2. Hours are focused work, not elapsed calendar time.
  3. a and d are counts; h,w,x,H,D,K,M are hours or hours per period.
  4. Defaults are a=8, h=1.5, w=4, d=5, x=1.5.
  5. No percentage conversion is used.
  6. H=12 hours.
  7. D=3 and K=7.5 hours per week.
  8. M=4.5 hours/week.
  9. Sessions/week=2 after ceiling.
  10. Check D×w=H and K−D=M.

RESULT INTERPRETATION

Margin is not a guarantee

A negative margin means the entered plan is overloaded. A large positive margin is available buffer, not permission to add more obligations.
