Workout setup

Define the purpose before increasing the repetitions

  1. Choose one repeat distance that fits the intended physiological and technical task.
  2. Enter pace as a controllable target, not the fastest possible split.
  3. Include only recoveries taken between repetitions.
  4. Record the easy running that makes the session operationally complete.
  5. Compare fast distance with the whole week before adding another hard workout.

Dose interpretation

Six repetitions are not six identical physiological responses

Pace, recovery length, terrain, accumulated fatigue, and repetition duration determine how the set develops. The calculator exposes the mechanical dose; it cannot certify the biological response.

A workout can have modest fast distance yet still be demanding because recovery is short or the work duration is long. That is why fast kilometers, work time, recovery time, and whole-session duration are reported separately.

The calculation first prices one repetition from distance and pace, multiplies only the true work segments, then adds recoveries and easy bookends. The weekly allowance tests fast distance rather than total session distance.

Does recovery jogging count as fast distance?

No. It contributes to total time and may contribute to total distance, but it is not counted in the fast-work allowance.

Why use n minus one recoveries?

The model assumes no recovery interval is needed after the final work repetition before the cool-down begins.

Is a higher work-to-recovery ratio always better?

No. It changes the workout. The appropriate ratio depends on the purpose, pace, experience, and recovery context.

Can I copy the session into every week?

Not automatically. Response, race phase, other hard sessions, and health status should guide repetition.
