OPPORTUNITY IS NOT SLEEP

Scheduling more time creates capacity, not a guaranteed biological outcome

The model deliberately uses sleep opportunity rather than promised sleep. Time in bed may not become sleep, and extra duration may not restore alertness on a fixed schedule.

A gradual, repeatable plan can be more operationally useful than a perfect plan with low follow-through. The adherence band makes that tradeoff visible.

Why does the calculator use protected nights?

A calendar night is not useful if the schedule cannot actually preserve the added opportunity.

Can I set adherence to 100 percent?

Yes for a perfect-plan comparison, but a realistic forecast should reflect likely execution.

Does reaching zero mean recovered?

No. It means only that the arithmetic opportunity credit covered the entered balance.

Why limit bedtime shift?

A large abrupt shift may be operationally unrealistic and can conflict with circadian timing.
