Convert the entered exam preparation workload and calendar into scheduled days, productive hours, review and buffer demand, total planned units, capacity margin, required daily minutes, and coverage percentage. Productive hours are converted to topic capacity, then review and schedule buffers are added to required workload before coverage is calculated.

The default assigns 420 weighted topic units across 14 weeks, six study days per week, 110 focused minutes per day, 78% productive time, 4.5 units per productive hour, 18% review overhead, and a 12% missed-day buffer.

Worked substitution with the default inputs

1. Calculate productive study time: 14 x 6 = 84 days; 84 x 110 / 60 x 78% = 120.12 productive hours The productivity factor prevents every scheduled minute from being counted as effective preparation.
2. Convert time to topic capacity: 120.12 x 4.5 = 540.54 weighted topic units Topic units should reflect difficulty or exam value rather than a simple chapter count.
3. Add practice and disruption demand: 420 x 18% = 75.6 review units; (420 + 75.6) x 12% = 59.472 buffer units; total = 555.072 units Retrieval practice and missed-day protection are not hidden inside first-pass coverage.
4. Reconcile coverage: 540.54 - 555.072 = -14.532 units; coverage = 97.38%; required focused time = 112.96 min/day The default 110 minutes per day is slightly below the modeled requirement.

The default exam plan covers about 97.4% of the weighted workload, leaving a small gap that should be closed before claiming full syllabus coverage.
