Apply an exact remaining-work score scenario and confirmed extra credit to the current point record, then compare the projected final grade and point margin with the selected target. Multiply remaining points by the scenario percentage, add earned points and confirmed extra credit, divide by final possible points, and calculate the point margin against target.

The default combines 420 earned points out of 500 with 400 remaining points, an 88% remaining-work scenario, an 85% target, and no extra credit.

General formula: G_c = E/P; S = Rg; E_f = E+S+X; P_f = P+R; G_f = E_f/P_f; T = P_f q; M = E_f-T; G_r = max(T-E-X,0)/R Scenario points are added to the current record, while the target is calculated independently from the final points denominator. Their difference produces a point margin and required remaining average.

Worked substitution with the default inputs

1. Check the current record: 420 / 500 x 100 = 84% Only work already possible belongs in the current-grade denominator.
2. Apply the scenario: 400 x 88% = 352 points; 420 + 352 + 0 = 772 points The scenario score applies only to remaining work.
3. Calculate the projected grade: 772 / (500 + 400) x 100 = 85.7778% The final denominator is 900 possible points.
4. Reconcile with the target: 900 x 85% = 765 points; 772 - 765 = +7 points; (765 - 420) / 400 = 86.25% The scenario exceeds the target by seven points and also exceeds the minimum required remaining average.

With the default scenario, the projected semester grade is about 85.78%, seven points above the 85% target.
