How the calculation works

Compare the packed scale weight with service-specific dimensional weight, then quantify the carton-volume reduction needed before actual weight could become the billing basis. Multiply length × width × height for cubic centimeters, divide that volume by the entered cm³/kg divisor for dimensional kilograms, and compare the result with packed actual weight. The larger value is the estimated billable basis before carrier rounding. The density break-even is 1,000,000 ÷ divisor in kg/m³.

Keep the carrier conversion and the packaging decision separate so a lower dimensional number is not mistaken for a guaranteed lower invoice.

General formula: V = L × W × H; Wdim = V ÷ D; Wbasis = max(Wactual, Wdim) The divisor converts occupied space to a rating weight. Actual weight controls only when the sealed carton volume is no greater than Wactual × D, before service-specific rounding.
