    DECISION DEPTH

    How subjective inputs can distort the result

    A percentage is not automatically probability

    Without comparable evidence, disruption values are scenario labels for sensitivity—not calibrated forecasts.

    Time value can overpower meaning

    A high entered rate may always favor the shorter plan. Review the direct-cost result and the qualitative case separately.

    Fallback quality differs

    A disruption at a local plan may have a strong nearby alternative, while a destination cancellation may strand sunk travel cost. Record the real fallback.

    Keep scenario scope, quotes, travel and coordination logs, time-value rationale, cancellation conditions, disruption evidence, reserve basis, privacy and accessibility review, and fallback plan. Save several sensitivity runs rather than only the preferred result.

    What generalized burden cannot rank

    • It cannot quantify love, commitment, consent, surprise preference, cultural meaning, or relationship readiness.
    • Disruption percentages are not validated probabilities unless supported by evidence.
    • The dollar value of time is subjective and not earned income.
    • Dependencies, cash timing, and irreversible deposits need separate records.

    Questions about proposal scenarios

    Is the lower burden scenario the recommended proposal?

    It is only the lower modeled resource burden. The appropriate plan must fit both people’s preferences, consent, access, privacy, and relationship context.

    How should disruption percentage be chosen?

    Use scenario-specific evidence when available and test a range. Do not present an unsupported value as a forecast.

    Why use one reserve for both scenarios?

    A common consequence basis makes the percentages comparable. Use separate detailed loss models when consequences truly differ.

    Can the time value be zero?

    Yes. A zero value provides a direct-cash comparison while still displaying the raw hour differences.

    Should coordination by friends count?

    Include the hours when their labor is part of the plan, and separately address whether that help is genuinely committed.

    What sensitivity runs are useful?

    Run zero time value, a higher time value, lower and higher disruption assumptions, and revised direct costs before calling the result robust.
