    Build two credible delivery paths before compressing the calendar

    1. List unfinished wedding tasks at the same level of detail; do not mix large projects with five-minute errands.
    2. Reserve the final buffer before calculating capacity so it cannot silently become working time.
    3. Enter only vendor lead that genuinely blocks completion rather than every vendor appointment.
    4. Use recent completed weeks to support the baseline rate and name the resources required for the accelerated rate.
    5. Treat a small positive gap as fragile and review task dependencies before promising the date.

    DECISION DEPTH

    Where a superficially feasible wedding plan can still fail

    Dependencies can serialize work

    Invitations may require a final guest list, printing approval, and postage in sequence. Independent task counts can overstate capacity when several steps cannot run in parallel.

    Acceleration consumes specific resources

    A higher weekly rate may require paid coordination, family help, fewer work commitments, or faster approval meetings. Record which resource makes the rate credible.

    Vendor time is not couple capacity

    Deposits, fittings, fabrication, permits, and shipping remain external even when the couple finishes its own decisions early. A supplier confirmation is stronger evidence than a generic estimate.

    Two countdown decisions with different consequences

    Add a coordinator for eight weeks

    The accelerated rate can represent delegated follow-up only if the coordinator owns named tasks. Recalculate after moving those tasks rather than counting both people completing them.

    Protect the final fortnight

    A couple may accept fewer decorative elements to preserve two quiet weeks before the ceremony. The model shows the scope reduction needed without treating buffer as wasted time.

    Retain the dated task register, task definitions, owners, completed-week history, vendor confirmations, contractual lead times, approval deadlines, buffer decision, and the specific staffing assumption behind each weekly rate. Save the unrounded capacity values with the report.

    LIMITS AND EXCLUSIONS

    What the two-rate model does not establish

    • It does not schedule task precedence, shared-resource conflicts, or fixed appointment dates.
    • A positive capacity gap cannot guarantee supplier performance, health, weather, or approval availability.
    • All tasks are counted equally even though effort and risk may differ materially.
    • The accelerated rate is not sustainable evidence unless its resources are documented.

    QUESTIONS SPECIFIC TO THIS DECISION

    Questions couples ask when testing countdown scenarios

    Why subtract vendor lead from the couple-controlled window?

    Because work done by the couple cannot compress a confirmed external fabrication or delivery interval. Separating it avoids claiming capacity that is not actually available.

    Should every remaining item count as one task?

    Only when tasks share a reasonably comparable done condition. Split very large work packages or track weighted effort in a separate schedule.

    What does a gap of zero mean?

    The plan fits exactly under the arithmetic and has no task-count margin. Any rework, dependency delay, or lower-throughput week creates a shortfall.

    Can we use hours per week instead?

    Not with this model. Translate hours into a defensible completed-task rate using recent evidence, or use a detailed resource schedule.

    Does the recommended scenario select vendors?

    No. It compares delivery capacity only; quality, contract terms, insurance, accessibility, and supplier reliability require separate review.

    When should we rerun the page?

    Rerun after a scope change, a missed milestone, a new vendor lead time, or several weeks of throughput evidence that changes either capacity rate.
