Average birds use half of cycle mortality because losses are assumed evenly distributed. Phase percentages are normalized so they always allocate exactly 100% of feed.

Examples

Limitations

The model does not formulate nutrients, model sex or strain curves, temperature effects, daily mortality timing, feed conversion, withdrawal feed, bin capacity, or delivery lead time.

Why use average live birds?

Birds lost during the cycle do not consume a full cycle of feed.

Must phase shares total 100%?

No. The calculator normalizes positive shares, though actual program shares should be entered accurately.

Is the result a ration recommendation?

No. It is a procurement estimate based on a separately approved feeding program.
