    RESULT INTERPRETATION

    Separate credited asynchronous work from required live sessions

    Completed live hours count at full value; future asynchronous time receives only the entered policy weight. The remaining equivalent-hour gap is then converted into whole live sessions and a required weekly pace.

    Zero remaining gap

    Credited progress meets or exceeds the entered planning goal, so no additional live sessions are required by the arithmetic. This is not a judgment about contact needs.

    Within capacity

    The whole-session pace fits the entered weekly cap. The result indicates scheduling capacity under the assumptions, not guaranteed participation.

    Over capacity

    The required pace exceeds the cap. Extend the horizon, revise the planning goal, or change the communication mix by agreement instead of exceeding protected availability.

    Use the goal as a capacity contract with an explicit weighting policy

    The supported decision is whether a declared amount of equivalent communication can fit a horizon without exceeding the maximum live-session pace both people accept.

    Weighting agreement

    Document why asynchronous minutes receive the selected partial credit. The weight is a private convention and should not be presented as scientific equivalence.

    Session effectiveness

    Apply the completion or productivity proportion only to scheduled live duration. If sessions vary materially, use a conservative representative value.

    Pace feasibility

    Compare required weekly sessions with actual calendar capacity after time zones, sleep, work, caregiving, and transition time.

    SENSITIVITY AND STRESS TESTING

    Test the policy values that can create artificial feasibility

    A goal can appear easier when asynchronous weight, session effectiveness, or the weekly cap is raised. Stress-test each without changing the others.

    Async-weight range

    Run zero and the agreed value. If feasibility depends on high partial credit, report live and asynchronous contributions separately in the decision.

    Session-effectiveness range

    Use observed low, typical, and high proportions. A plan that works only at the high rate lacks recovery room for interruptions.

    Horizon extension

    Extend the horizon before increasing the weekly cap beyond protected availability. This shows the time tradeoff without assuming more capacity.

    A positive margin means the entered maximum schedule has arithmetic room; neither person owes that amount of contact.

The CFPB’s goal-planning approach supports comparing an amount needed with available capacity, but this page’s communication weights are entirely user-defined.

    • Async duration is difficult to measure consistently and may encourage surveillance if misused.
    • The completion rate assumes future sessions resemble the observed period.

    Why call the result equivalent hours?

    Because weighted async time is not literally synchronous time; the label keeps the conversion convention visible.

    Can async weight exceed one hundred percent?

    No. This model permits zero to one hundred percent and does not treat an async hour as more than one equivalent hour.

    What if async credit already covers the goal?

    Remaining live equivalent and required sessions become zero; the goal status notes that completed and credited time cover it.

    Why is completion rate applied to live sessions only?

    Async activity is entered as a planned weekly amount, while the model’s separate reliability assumption describes scheduled synchronous sessions.

    Can required sessions per week be fractional?

    Yes. It is an average pace; the required total session count is still a whole number.

    Should we increase the cap to make the status pass?

    Only if both people independently consider the higher cadence sustainable. Do not tune a boundary merely to obtain a favorable label.

    Why use equivalent hours at all?

    They provide one transparent planning measure when both live and asynchronous communication are in scope. They do not claim the two forms have equal emotional or practical value.

    Can the async weight exceed 100 percent?

    No. Future asynchronous time cannot receive more than full equivalent credit in this model; choose another model if your decision needs a different construct.

    Why are scheduled sessions whole numbers?

    A fractional session cannot be placed on the calendar as the modeled unit, so the remaining gap is rounded upward after effective hours per session are calculated.

    When should this goal be discarded?

    Discard or rebuild it when the weighting agreement, availability, offsets, session structure, horizon, or willingness to participate changes materially.

    Do not use equivalent hours to rank affection, demand response time, monitor a partner, or override rest and autonomy. The planning rule should remain optional, revisable, and mutually understood.
