This calculator helps couples and coordinators translate a wedding date into three editable lead-time gates and a simple open-task pace. It uses date-only Gregorian arithmetic so daylight-saving changes cannot turn a calendar-day countdown into a 23- or 25-hour surprise.

R and W are valid date-only values on the proleptic Gregorian calendar. Each gate Gj subtracts its entered whole-day lead Lj from W. The reference date is excluded and the wedding date included; no clock time, daylight-saving shift, or leap second enters the count.

Default calendar substitution: 2027-05-22 minus 2026-08-04 = 291 civil days = 41 complete weeks + 4 days. Major gate = wedding minus 180 days = 2026-11-23. The count uses valid date fields and Gregorian leap-year rules.

Average task pace
An open-task count divided by remaining weeks; it ignores task size and dependencies.

Date-only arithmetic
Using calendar ordinals prevents daylight-saving transitions from changing a day count. Add times only in a separate zone-aware itinerary.
Moving political rules
Time-zone and daylight-saving rules can change. A future ceremony schedule needs a current IANA-aware system when exact clock times matter.
Vendor authority
A default lead is not a contract deadline. Signed terms, government offices, travel documents, and religious requirements outrank this page.

What the countdown excludes
- It uses date-only proleptic Gregorian arithmetic and does not model local clock times, daylight-saving gaps, or repeated hours.
- It does not convert religious, lunar, historical, or jurisdiction-specific calendar dates.
- Default lead days are editable examples and have no universal legal or industry authority.
- Average tasks per week treats every task as equal and independent.
- Venue availability, vendor performance, payment terms, notice periods, travel, emergencies, and cultural requirements remain outside.

Two milestone cases
A long runway and a late venue change
Long runway
A couple replaces the default leads with contract-backed booking, guest-confirmation, and final-payment dates. The next gate remains months away, so tasks are assigned by dependency rather than weekly count alone.
Venue change
A new venue changes the wedding date and contract deadlines. The planner reruns the entire gate ledger instead of manually shifting only the headline countdown.
Important note
Calendar arithmetic cannot extend a real deadline
Confirm legal documents, permits, notices, travel documents, vendor cancellations, payments, and ceremony requirements with the responsible authority. A date produced here has no power to alter those terms.

Yes. The reference date is excluded and the wedding civil date is included, which equals the midnight-to-midnight date difference.
Which time zone is used?

What if a milestone date has already passed?
The ledger marks it Passed and selects the first gate on or after the reference date as next.
Why must lead days descend?
Major booking, confirmation, and final-check gates must appear in chronological order before the wedding.

No. They are editable planning defaults, not universal vendor or legal deadlines.
Does tasks per week account for complexity?
