The exact date-only span D is converted to elapsed weeks and average Gregorian years Y. Entered off-routine weeks k reduce only the regular layer Q. The separate vacation layer V is then added, making any potential overlap visible in the assumptions.

Default calendar substitution: exact Gregorian difference is 2,107 civil days. Y=2,107/365.2425. Regular eligible weeks subtract Y×4 before multiplying by 3×2.5; vacation time is independently Y×10×6.
Six-step reconstruction
State the routine before calculating it
- Choose one local civil-date convention and confirm the start and wedding dates.
- Define what counts as a together day and focused hour without using the outcome to change the definition.
- Estimate the ordinary weekly frequency from a representative period.
- Enter off-routine weeks for travel, distance, rotating work, illness, or other known separation.
- Record vacation days only when they are additional to the regular layer.
- Review the two hour layers separately and discuss uncertainty before quoting the total.

Know where the estimate can drift
Recall bias
Partners may remember exceptional weekends more clearly than ordinary ones. Calendar sampling is stronger than an impressionistic average.
Overlap risk
Vacation days already included in regular together days can be counted twice unless the input preparation removes them from one layer.
Quantity versus quality
Parallel chores, conflict, caregiving, quiet companionship, and intentional conversation can occupy similar hours with very different meanings.
Evidence guidance
Use calendars before memory
Retain the date convention, calendar exports, rotating-work schedules, long-distance travel records, off-routine weeks, vacation dates, focused-time definition, and any sampled diary used to choose the averages. Label all reconstructed values as estimates.
Time-together limitations
What the estimated hours exclude
- Weekly and vacation inputs are averages and do not recreate every historical day.
- Vacation time is additive and can double count regular time if inputs are not prepared carefully.
- It does not distinguish attention, multitasking, care work, conflict, sleep, or physical proximity.
- It does not measure consent, affection, compatibility, relationship quality, or readiness for marriage.
- Date arithmetic is date-only Gregorian; exact clock hours, time-zone differences, and DST transitions are excluded.

Two schedule cases
A local routine and a rotating long-distance schedule
Local weekly routine
A couple samples calendars and enters three consistent evenings plus ten vacation days. Off-routine weeks are small, so the regular layer dominates.
Rotating long-distance work
One partner works away for long blocks. A large off-routine deduction and concentrated vacation layer better describe the schedule than a naive every-week average.

Never use the total as proof in a relationship decision
Questions about consent, safety, conflict, commitment, compatibility, or readiness for marriage require direct communication and, when appropriate, qualified counseling or legal support. Modeled hours cannot answer them.

Frequently asked questions
Is the relationship start date counted?
No. The start civil date is excluded and the wedding civil date included in the elapsed-day count.
Does the estimate measure relationship quality?
No. Hours are reconstructed from user-entered routines and cannot measure attention, closeness, support, or readiness for marriage.
Why subtract separate weeks?
It prevents the regular weekly routine from being applied during entered weeks when partners expect not to follow it.
Are vacation hours added on top of regular time?
Yes. The model treats vacation days as an additional entered layer; avoid double counting by excluding those days from the regular pattern when preparing inputs.
How are leap years handled?
Exact civil days use Gregorian leap-year rules; 365.2425 is used only to convert the elapsed span to an average calendar-year quantity.
What time zone applies?
Date inputs are local civil dates in one chosen location. Clock times and long-distance time-zone differences are not modeled.
