    Translate a real route into a repeated-distance plan

    1. Use a route planner or odometer record for one-way road distance.
    2. Enter the number of complete round trips in the chosen horizon.
    3. Add only travelers sharing the same vehicle to passenger-miles.
    4. Use measured fuel efficiency and a dated fuel-price assumption.
    5. Add realistic stops and compare annual hours with calendar capacity.

    LIMITS AND EXCLUSIONS

    Distance-plan exclusions

    • Fuel cost excludes maintenance, depreciation, tolls, parking, insurance, and lodging.
    • Traffic, weather, border delay, charging, and breakdown time are not forecast.
    • The detour rate is user-entered and does not model route probability.
    • Passenger-miles do not measure environmental impact or relationship value.

    Travel distance questions

    Why use road distance instead of straight-line distance?

    Fuel and driving time follow the actual route, so straight-line separation is not a suitable default.

    Does traveler count change fuel cost?

    Not in this simplified model; use a different efficiency input if occupancy materially changes observed efficiency.

    Can I enter kilometers?

    The page is explicitly miles, mpg, and gallons; convert all quantities consistently before entry.

    Where are tolls and parking?

    They are outside this fuel-distance model and belong in a visit or shared budget.

    Why add rest twice?

    A round trip has an outbound and return leg, each receiving the entered stop allowance.

    Is average speed a recommendation?

    No. Follow laws, conditions, fatigue guidance, and qualified route information.
